Customizing the Look of Microsoft Excel 2021 Report Styles

The Style Designer is an important tool in the designer report designer which is used to create, modify and edit styles within reports. By using the currently available styles and their associated templates you can quickly and easily alter the look of your report. The Style Designer has several different views which allow you to view the current style definition, the Styles and their templates as well as the properties they hold. To change the look of your report simply select the relevant template and the appropriate style.

There are several different aspects to the Style Designer that are very useful and which should be considered when choosing this design application for your web based reports. Firstly, there is the context menu, which provides a quick view of all currently selected style definitions and click/drag actions associated with each one. Within the context menu you will see a range of different features such as font selections, highlighting, inserting images, changing the value of the Style Detail area and much more. These options are extremely powerful and allow you to perform a wide range of common tasks and therefore it is essential that you understand how each can be used.

Another important facet of the Style Designer which should not be ignored is the contextual menu which displays the currently selected style command or option. It is possible to switch between different options by clicking on one of the small “gear” icons which usually appear next to the text boxes and on the right hand side of the input fields. Please note that the “Fit To” selection option is always present and changes the size of the reported field, so if you need to change the size of a column please note that the “Fit To” command must be used. The ” Fonts and Colors” dialog box is also worth taking a look at, as the value you choose in this dialog box will determine the visual effect which appears in your report styles. Changing the value from its default to something more flexible such as “fixed” will automatically result in a new style which will fit better to your selected background.
